Is Heated Rivalry an SJW Fetish?

Heated Rivalry has been heating up fans with its man-on-man action, and now it’s heating up the right wing for a different reason. Some Republicans are attacking the HBO Max drama about closeted gay hockey players, calling its popularity and explicit queer romance “an SJW fetish” and stirring debate online about representation and storytelling.

For the uninformed, SJW stands for Social Justice Warrior. It’s a mocking term the right uses for someone who is “overly progressive or left-wing,” according to Merriam Webster. It’s a bit less clear what an SJW fetish is, but in this instance it appears to refer to instances of perceived hypocrisy from progressives, for example objectification of men and male bodies, which would seems antithetical to progressive ideals.
